Philippines — The Philippine housing industry is facing a market environment defined by changing buyer preferences, expanding growth areas, and evolving regulations. For developers, understanding these shifts will be critical to remaining responsive to the needs of Filipino families.
The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) will address these developments at its 34th National Developers Convention on September 16–17, 2026, at Marquis Events Place, BGC, Taguig City, Metro Manila.
With the theme “Elevate: Sustaining Progress through Collaboration and Strategic Housing Innovations,” the event will convene developers, policymakers, financial institutions, and industry stakeholders for discussions on the forces shaping the housing sector.
“The housing sector has never operated in a vacuum. Regulations shift, market conditions change, and developers have to keep up. That’s exactly what the convention is for. We come together, we share what we know, and we figure out the next steps as an industry,” said Engr. Francis Richmond Villegas, SHDA Chairman of the Board.
Housing demand continues to broaden geographically as infrastructure improvements support new growth areas outside Metro Manila. First-time buyers and young families remain important segments, particularly within the economic and affordable housing market.
Meanwhile, homebuyers are becoming more selective, making it increasingly important for developers to understand changing household needs and market behavior.
The policy environment is also evolving. Recent changes, including updated socialized housing price ceilings, demonstrate the continued movement of housing policy in response to market realities.
“Change in the housing industry is constant, but our mission has never wavered,” said Mr. Kerwin Padua, SHDA National President. “At the end of the day, everything we do is for Filipino families who want a home they can call their own. The landscape keeps shifting, but the goal of homeownership will stay.”
According to Padua, the convention will help SHDA members, affiliates, and partners stay informed about market behavior and demand so developers can better provide affordable housing that addresses current needs.
The program will include sessions on regulatory developments, household composition, homebuyer trends, and strategic housing innovations.
