Taiwan Expo 2026 Highlights Energy and Agritech Solutions With Potential for Philippine Regional Markets

Delegates and industry representatives gather at the Taiwan Healthcare Pavilion at Taiwan Expo 2025 in the Philippines, showcasing Taiwan’s growing expertise and collaboration in healthcare innovation.

MANILA, Philippines — the showcase is part of a wider expo running from 17 to 19 September at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, bringing together more than 125 Taiwanese exhibitors across technology, sustainability, agriculture, healthcare, and lifestyle sectors. Exhibitors are participating under a “National Team” banner, organized by the Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

Trade between Taiwan and the Philippines continues to strengthen, with $6.71 billion in goods traded in 2024 and bilateral trade climbing 8.5 percent in the first seven months of 2025, lifting Taiwan from the Philippines’ eleventh- to tenth-largest trading partner — a trend that could open more doors for regional businesses, including those based in Mindanao.

Businesses operating in off-grid and underserved areas of Mindanao may find new partnership opportunities at Taiwan Expo 2026, where the Green & Innovation Showcase will feature battery energy storage systems and hydrogen microgrids built specifically for island and off-grid deployment — technology with direct application to electrifying communities outside the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao grids.

“Fifty-three million dollars in business opportunities showed us how much appetite there is in this market,” said James C. F. Huang, Chairman of TAITRA, referring to the 2025 edition’s results. “This year we want to build on that through joint ventures, licensing, and local assembly, so Taiwanese and Philippine companies are building together rather than simply trading. Our measure of success is how many of these connections are still producing value for both sides five years from now.”

Agribusiness operators may also find relevant technology at the Agritech & Food Pavilion, which features Autonomous Mobile Robots and smart livestock environmental control systems addressing labor shortages and mortality losses in poultry and swine operations — cost pressures familiar to many Mindanao producers — alongside premium Phalaenopsis orchids and high-mountain teas.

Also featured: the Intelligent Technology Pavilion, covering AIoT, edge computing, and zero-trust cybersecurity frameworks for enterprises; the Beauty & Wellness Pavilion, combining biotech skincare with medical supplies; and the Premium Lifestyle Pavilion, featuring rPET recycled fabric bags and precision bathroom components, most seeking Philippine distributor partners.

The 2025 edition of Taiwan Expo generated $53.4 million in business opportunities and drew more than 10,000 buyers. This year’s edition runs September 17–19 at the SMX Convention Center, organized by Taiwan’s International Trade Administration and implemented by TAITRA.
